A ‘Wet’ Commericial is Grabbing Attention
After viewing the new Lynx Dry Deodorant television advertisements for men, one only wonders if they are actually targeting a consumer to buy the product, or rather to see girls half naked. The Advertising Standards Bureau is currently investigating the recently aired commercials that imply that ‘girls look hot wet, but guys don’t. In each one, the striking females are pictured soaking wet with little clothes on and in sexual poses as the male onlooker has sweat stains and appears unattractive to the women. The ASB is still receiving complaints from viewers that the ads are inappropriate. Ironically this is not the first time that Lynx ads have been investigated this year for suggestive sexual behaviour.
The issue of women being depicted as sexual objects in advertising and the media has been a consistently growing concern in society, and one that raises much controversy as it is offensive to some females. Many say that such information portrays an unrealistic image of women, as tall, slim, beautiful, and full of all the right curves. This very concern is the one that is being addressed in the Lynx Dry Deodorant commercials now.
Regardless of what the outcome is, this company did achieve the goal of grabbing attention and creating interest in the object. Better check out the ad now just in case it might go away soon!
