The Whopper Freak Out
This Burger King marketing campaign started off as a prank and ended up as a (excuse the pun) whopping marketing campaign. By ‘discontinuing’ the Whopper – America’s most popular burger, in one town for one day, Burger King tests the depths of peoples love and loyalty for their world famous brand. The uproar that followed demonstrates the effect of having limited products – people will go mad for something if they can’t all have it. Not only this but the chance to see some Americans go mad for a burger was unsurprisingly even more popular with video’s watched across the globe. The stunt was turned into a commercial and posted on the Burger King website
