Consumers seem to find social networking more and more important than they used to. Last year the quantity of hours that consumers spend on social networking increased with 82%. In December 2008, people spent 3 hours a month on social networking platforms and this increased to 5.5 hours in December 2009.
This big up-sweep can be largely attributed to the popularity of Twitter and Facebook. In the same period Twitter’s unique visitors increased with 579% to 18.1 million compared to 2.7 million in 2008. On Facebook there were 110 million unique visitors more than there were one year before, this means the visitor quantity on Facebook doubled in just one year. With this numbers Twitter and Facebook have become two of the three most important social networks in the world.
Now we know that social media is really important for marketing companies to use as a marketing tool these days. Facebook and Twitter are nice tools to help company’s get bigger, get more attention and make companies bigger than they were before, especially because they are so popular today. But there is more to do than simply setting up accounts on there networks and waiting for people to come. What about SEO?

Every day, more and more people are using search engines to look for products or services by using specific keywords in their search.
