Social Media Mistakes To Be Avoided No.1
Of those companies listed on Fortune1000’s list, 75% of those actively online have conducted some form of Social Media Marketing. However, 50% of these ventures into cyberspace were unsuccessful.
Brands who are constantly working towards improving themselves in the new world of Social Media Marketing will naturally suffer setbacks in the process. Companies which have history of being present on the internet and having worked through the means of Social Media should carefully consider what they have done before and ask themselves if they could have done some things more successfully. Likewise, companies new to the online community would be wise to take some advice from past attempts by their competitors and partners’ experiences.
Today we’ll look at the first of eight common mistakes that companies make when it comes to social media marketing and propose some advice so steer clear of them.
1. Social Media Success is Viral
Social Media strategies, together with a well-administered marketing strategy, can produce a viral outcome where people share your content and talk about your brand with their friends and family. A common mistake is to focus on content and getting people to participate but incidently generating low sales. Additionally, knowledge of the brand does not necessarily follow content and participating efforts. A good idea is to ask people you know about how much they can recall from a campaign. The turnout is usually very low.
Social Media often invites to think ‘outside the box’ and whereas this is often positive in marketing planning it might also cause you to stray too far away from what Social Media is about. You must be able to deliver ROI to make your Social Media efforts acceptable. Finding the line between creativity and hard sales can be difficult and not understanding the fact that viral is not enough for a successful Social Media marketing campaign.
