Apple Surpases Microsoft:The Aftermath
Just the other day, Apple was declared as the world’s most valuable technology company for the first time, ahead of Microsoft. Now the most important form of technology can sit in your hands, rather than on your desktop.
Ironically, only a little over a decade ago there seemed to be no hope or bright future ahead for Apple as it was termed “already dead” by Microsoft’s chief technology consultant before it made an outbreak. However, as soon as they were able to introduce the world’s most coveted and popularised music player, the iPod, it has all been uphill for Steve Jobs and the Apple Family as they have surpassed the leading brands in mobile phones, music, and now hand-held devices with the iPad.
Microsoft still does hold a valuable name in the computer industry as it is the desired choice for 9 out of 10 computers and is confident in saying that “no technology company on the planet is more profitable than we are”. However, just because they currently have more cash on hand, it seems to be that the growing popularity and product of choice is leaning towards computers dominated by touch rather than keys, paving the way for a different future.
Steve Jobs responded to this successful feat just yesterday at the D8 conference when he acknowledged that it is a surreal, wonderful moment, while still focusing on the fact that the most important thing to keep in mind are the desires of the customer. He also commented on the current rivalry between Apple and Google, Microsoft, and Adobe Flash.
Although Google appears to be a threat at the time, he informed the public that Apple will continue to host the maps and services offered by the company because there is no need to “be rude”. Also, important to note, is that it appears that the iPhone will soon be delivered by another wireless phone company, Verizon, although he did not explicitly state this as a fact. He also made many predictions regarding the future of PC computers, stating that it is not probable that such computers will face demise, but rather only a certain need for such a form of technology will occur.
Jobs remained confident, humble, and straight forward in his answers, while making sure not to divulge any unnecessary or secretive information. The article also states that his appearance still seemed to be struggling, but there were no comments made regarding the matter.
